Thane Carlston is a Managing Director and Co-Head of the Recapitalization & Restructuring Group at Moelis & Company. Mr. Carlston has been in the investment banking industry for over 20 years. From 1998 until joining Moelis & Company in 2008, he was Co-Head of the Recapitalization and Restructuring Group at Jefferies & Company. During his leadership, Jefferies advised on nearly $200 billion of restructuring transactions. Before joining Jefferies, he ran the New York office for Chanin and Company, a boutique investment banking firm specialized in providing restructuring advice. Mr. Carlston has extensive experience advising companies, equity sponsors, bondholders and creditor groups in out-of-court restructurings as well as pre-packaged, pre-arranged and unplanned Chapter 11 reorganizations. He has structured and led numerous exchange offers, consent solicitations and lender negotiations in a variety of industries. In addition to advising clients on recapitalization and restructuring services, he has advised on a number of financing and M&A transactions.

Mr. Carlston holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Utah and an M.B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Ping Chen is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company, where he advises on both Asian and global cross-border transactions across all major industries. Mr. Chen has over 11 years of investment banking experience and has completed a number of high profile transactions including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, leveraged buyouts and restructurings. Prior to joining Moelis & Company in 2014, Mr. Chen was a Vice President at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Asia Mergers & Acquisitions Group. Previously, he was an Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group at Citi London and started his career in the Equity Capital Market Group at Morgan Stanley London.

Mr. Chen holds an MEng and a BEng, top of the 1st Class, in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Management Studies from Imperial College London. He also holds an MEng in Financial Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

Ed P. Chiang

Ed Chiang is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he specializes in equity capital markets advisory, providing clients advisory services in public offerings and placement services in private offerings. Mr. Chiang joined the Firm as a Senior Advisor before taking a role as Managing Director a year later, and is responsible for providing capital raising solutions to a broad range of clients. He has over 27 years of investment banking and capital markets experience, having executed over 150 equity offerings including IPOs, follow-ons, convertibles, 144A offerings, venture capital, acquisition financings, limited partnerships and royalty financings. Prior to Moelis & Company, he spent 16 years between Merrill Lynch and Banc of America Securities, where he was most recently a Managing Director and Group Head of Private Equity Placements as well as a member of the Equity Capital Markets Operating Committee. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Chiang was an investment banker in the Private Equity and the Mergers & Acquisitions groups.

Mr. Chiang received an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University.

Lawrence S. Chu

Lawrence S. Chu is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he provides financial and strategic advice to large cap companies globally, with a concentration on the communications, media and technology sectors. Mr. Chu has over 20 years of experience in this role. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Mr. Chu was appointed Special Adviser to the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Before the FCC, Mr. Chu was a Managing Director at Greenhill & Co. and prior to that, was a Managing Director at Evercore Partners.

Mr. Chu graduated magna cum laude (Phi Beta Kappa) from New York University with a degree in Computer Science. He is President of the Board of Trustees as well as a member of the Nursery School Board of Directors and Governance Committee of The First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York.

Kate Pilcher Ciafone is a Managing Director and Head of Global Advisory Business Management at Moelis & Company. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Ms. Ciafone worked in the UBS Investment Bank Office of the CEO and President, where she helped to analyze growth opportunities and develop the strategy of the firm. Prior to this, Ms. Ciafone was an investment banker in the Financial Institutions Group at UBS Investment Bank. In this role, she advised clients in the commercial banking, asset management, broker-dealer, specialty finance and financial technology sectors on mergers and acquisitions and raising equity and debt financing.

Ms. Ciafone holds a B.S. in Commerce with distinction from The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.

John Colella

John Colella is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he focuses on transactions in the power and utility sectors. He joined the Firm with expertise in several energy sectors including electric, water and gas utilities as well as independent power producers and renewable energy companies. Mr. Colella has been in the investment banking industry for over 15 years and has advised some of the largest global power and utility clients on critical strategic and capital raising transactions. He also advises on M&A, capital markets, restructuring and bankruptcy transactions. Previously, Mr. Colella was a Managing Director at JP Morgan covering power and utility clients. Prior to joining JP Morgan in 2007, Mr. Colella was a member of the Global Utilities Group at UBS Investment Bank.

Mr. Colella holds a B.A. from Rutgers College and an M.B.A. from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, where he was a Park Leadership Fellow.

Lee Counselman is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he focuses on advising clients in the software and services sector. Mr. Counselman has over 15 years of experience advising Tech, Media, and Telecom companies on a broad spectrum of corporate finance matters, including M&A, debt and equity financings, IPOs, and private placements. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Mr. Counselman was a Managing Director and Global Head of Software Investment Banking at Deutsche Bank, where he also previously served as Co-Head of Technology M&A. Before that, Mr. Counselman worked at Merrill Lynch & Co. and The Carlyle Group. He began his career as an auditor in Arthur Andersen’s financial services practice.

Mr. Counselman holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Accounting from Washington and Lee University and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Elizabeth Crain is the Chief Operating Officer of Moelis & Company and is responsible for the Firm’s global strategy, infrastructure and business management. Ms. Crain has been in the investment banking and private equity industries for over 25 years as a banker, principal and operations specialist. She was most recently a Managing Director in the UBS Investment Bank Office of the CEO and President and served as Manager of the UBS Investment Bank Client Committee and member of the UBS Investment Bank Board. Prior to this, Ms. Crain was both the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of the UBS Investment Banking Department Americas franchise. Ms. Crain was named one of “25 Most Powerful Women in Finance” by American Banker magazine in 2011 and 2012.

Ms. Crain holds a B.S. in Economics from Arizona State University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She serves on the Board of Trustees of The Windward School and the Royal Academy America. Ms. Crain is also a member of the Graduate Executive Board of The Wharton School and the Dean’s Council of the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.

Robert C. Crowley

Bob Crowley is a Managing Director and Head of the Boston office at Moelis & Company. He joined at the Firm’s founding to manage the build-out of the Firm’s first office in Boston and to lead its expansion in the homebuilding sector. Mr. Crowley has over 20 years of investment banking experience advising on and executing various homebuilding merger, acquisition, restructuring, debt and equity transactions. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Mr. Crowley was head of high yield capital markets at UBS and previously led top franchises in the homebuilding and environmental services sectors of UBS’s Global Industrials Group. Mr. Crowley started his banking career at Salomon Brothers and worked at BankBoston before joining UBS. Before becoming a banker, Mr. Crowley was an Institutional Investor-ranked high yield research analyst covering the homebuilding/building materials sectors. Mr. Crowley was honored as Investment Dealers’ Digest’s 2009 “40 Under 40.”

Mr. Crowley holds a B.A. in International Politics and Economics from Middlebury College. He currently serves as Treasurer and board member of the Shady Hill School, as President of the Franconia Ski Club, member of the corporation of the Belmont Hill School, is the former President of Hill House Boston, and was previously a member of the Joint Center for Housing Studies’ Policy Advisory Board at Harvard University.

David Cunningham is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company, where he focuses on advising companies in the oil and gas sector. Previously, he spent eight years as a Managing Director at Tudor Pickering Holt & Co., where he was one of the initial five Managing Directors in the investment banking group. He also spent 10 years with Credit Suisse where he was a Managing Director in the Global Energy Group.

Mr. Cunningham holds a B.A. in Finance from Texas Christian University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Maarten de Jong is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he specializes in advising clients in the healthcare sector. He has over 22 years of investment banking experience, advising on M&A and capital markets healthcare transactions, including pharmaceuticals, specialty pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and diagnostics transactions. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Mr. de Jong worked at Barclays, formerly Lehman Brothers, and was most recently their Global Head of Life Sciences. While at Barclays, he executed a broad range of transactions across the healthcare sector and developed a portfolio of relationships across the U.S. and Europe.

Mr. de Jong holds an M.S. from the University of Utrecht.

Scott DeGhetto is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company. Mr. DeGhetto has over 25 years of investment banking experience, most recently as Co-Head of the Power & Renewable Energy Group at Credit Suisse. Previously, he worked at JP Morgan where he was a Managing Director in the Power and Pipeline Group. Mr. DeGhetto also spent more than seven years as a Managing Director in the Global Utilities Group at UBS. He has extensive experience advising clients in the utility, power and renewable energy sectors on M&A, capital markets, restructuring and bankruptcy transactions.

Mr. DeGhetto holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester and an M.B.A. from the Stern School of Business at New York University.

Charlie Denison is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company. Mr. Denison has over 30 years of investment banking experience. Most recently, Mr. Denison ran the Chicago office of Deutsche Bank and predecessor Bankers Trust since 1994, and was responsible for overseeing the firm’s investment banking activities in the Midwest as well as coordinating the strategies of the private wealth and asset management businesses. From 1996 to 2008 he was also Co-Head of the Industrials Investment Banking Group and was responsible for its Paper and Packaging sector practice. During his career, Mr. Denison has advised clients on numerous transactions across mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations and debt and equity financings. Mr. Denison joined Bankers Trust in 1987 from Harris Bank.

Mr. Denison holds an A.B. in Economics and Government from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Lyric Opera of Chicago since 1995 and of Chicago Youth Centers since 1990. He was a member of The Chicago Children’s Museum Board of Directors from 1990 until 1998.

Jared Dermont is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company. Mr. Dermont’s financial advisory assignments include advising companies, creditors and government entities in a variety of industries on recapitalizations, restructurings, mergers and acquisitions and has completed over 100 assignments representing in excess of $200 billion in aggregate value. Mr. Dermont’s domestic and cross-border M&A experience includes both buy-side and sell-side assignments as well as Special Committee representations. His financing expertise includes senior secured debt financings, DIP financings, exit financings, second lien loans, convertible notes, rights offerings, preferred stock investments and common equity investments. Most recently, Mr. Dermont was a Managing Director at Rothschild Inc. where he originated and executed numerous in-court and out-of-court restructuring and M&A transactions. Prior to Rothschild, Mr. Dermont was a Vice President in the Healthcare Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Banc of America Securities. He began his career at Peter J. Solomon Company. Mr. Dermont was recently honored as Investment Dealers’ Digest’s 2011 “40 Under 40.”

Bill Derrough is a Managing Director and Co-Head of the Recapitalization & Restructuring Group at Moelis & Company. Mr. Derrough has extensive experience advising all types of parties in major restructurings including companies, boards of directors, creditor groups, unions and governmental entities and has been instrumental in helping build-out the Firm’s restructuring franchise. Under his leadership, Moelis & Company has established one of the world’s leading R&R teams, which has advised on more than 250 assignments globally. Mr. Derrough has over 25 years of investment banking experience. From 1998 until joining Moelis & Company, he co-founded and co-headed the Recapitalization & Restructuring Group at Jefferies & Company. While at Jefferies, Mr. Derrough advised a wide spectrum of clients and investors on restructurings, recapitalizations, financings, mergers, and other engagements. Prior to joining Jefferies, Mr. Derrough was a Principal at Doyle & Boissiere, a private investment firm.

Mr. Derrough holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. He is the acting Treasurer of the Democratic National Committee and serves on the Youth INC Board of Directors.
